Didn't get the memo saying it is okay to still feed your 4 and 6 year olds.?

I do live pretty far out in the middle of nowhere but I do have tv and internet I have not heard of this!! I was visiting my family in Dallas this week and I was at the store with my 3 month old and I was looking at nipple cream. This lady comes up and tells me I should try this other one. I asked her if she fed her child. She said she still had two nursing. I said, oh you poor thing! At least since you have a new one your older one will be weaned soon. She said oh no, mine are 4 and 6. OMG! I had to leave. That was just too much for me to comprehend. I may be small minded, but I can't imagine feeding an elementery schooler, and a sons none the less. She said many mothers are doing it now. Why can't they pump. Is this really normal or is she just a nut?
