Do you think America has become the very definition of Alexis de Tocqueville's "soft despotism"?

i don't think it has come to that yet but the current democrat party and its leftist followers are pushing for that type of governance. which begs to question are the lefties of today anti-American? Since the foundation of this country was one of personal rights and freedom to pursue your dreams.
