Am I beginning to understand Christians?

Today someone I know insulted my father (he is a college professor) and I instantly became filled with a zealous anger. I didn't act on it (it was my friends girlfriend), but reflecting on this made me curious; Christians are you enraged when atheists (such as myself) insult your "heavenly father"?
