Zone 5 MI 48073 Know of any good plants for wet area in the spring. does eventually dry out in summer.?

This area is at the way back of yard but has really slowed me down in getting gardening started this year. My compost pile is @ back also. I wore knee high rubber boots to put compost around edges, boots got stuck and I fell in muck. Nobody saw me!
