Whats the difference between an adverb and an adjective?

an adverb describes a verb while an adjective describes a noun. example of adverb: The boy quickly ran to the dog. (how did he run...he ran quickly...describes how he ran) example of an adjective: The boy ran to the injured dog. (what kind of a dog or description of dog=injured) or The boy ran to the spotted dalmatian. (the adjective would be spotted because it describes the dalmatian).Hope this helps!
